Investigation underway following incident on Aparima River

The Environment Southland Harbourmaster, Lyndon Cleaver and our maritime team are investigating an incident that happened on the Aparima River at Riverton this morning (Sunday 24/07/2022) between a recreational boat and a rowing skiff.

Emergency services and the Riverton Coastguard attended. The Police have been notified and Maritime New Zealand is in attendance.

The Harbourmaster will be conducting an investigation in relation to his responsibilities and powers under the Maritime Transport Act and navigational safety bylaws.
