Proposed Southland Water and Land Plan

Southland Regional Council (Environment Southland) has approved by resolution (on 8 May 2024) the changes to the provisions of the Proposed Southland Water and Land Plan. The plan is amended in accordance with this decision from 27 May 2024 and the provisions (other than Policy 42, Rules 24, 54 and 78, and Appendix L.5) will be operative.

Southland Regional Council gives notice that, in accordance with section 55(2) of the Resource Management Act 1991, the following clauses from the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management 2020 have been incorporated into the partially operative Southland Water and Plan:

• Clause 3.22 Natural inland wetlands
• Clause 3.24 Rivers

Copies of the Southland Water and Land Plan can be accessed at the following locations (during normal office hours):

• Environment Southland's office (Cnr North Road and Price Street, Invercargill)
• All open public libraries
• All head offices of the District/City Councils
