Environment Southland has received an application for resource consent from D E & V J Stafford, Gore. Application APP-20171375 is for a discharge permit to discharge dairy shed effluent to land from up to 500 cows on an existing dairy farm, and a water permit to take up to 60,000 litres of
groundwater per day.

Discharge Permit - To discharge dairy shed effluent to land from up to 500 cows by low rate irrigation and umbilical irrigation on an existing dairy farm. The proposal is a non-complying activity under Rule 35(d) of the proposed Southland Water and Land Plan.
Water Permit - To take up to 60,000 litres of groundwater per day and up to 18,240 cubic metres per year from two bores in the Lower Mataura Groundwater Zone. The proposal is a discretionary activity under Rule 23(d)(ii) of the Regional Water Plan for Southland.
