A comparatively small amount of work was left to be completed in the New Year.
The immediate availability of specialist contractors means this work can be undertaken in the week of 27 January.
We appreciate the nearby community and walkway users would have preferred earlier notice, however delaying the work would result in significant costs to the council.
Vegetation adjacent to the Dee Street bridge, as well in another section near the end of Preston Street is to be removed over an approximate period of three days.
The walkway on the true right stop bank of the Waihōpai River will be closed during this time.
Walkway users will be able to travel in either direction of the work areas using the true left stop bank.
A small amount of vegetation is to be removed in two sections adjacent to Salford Street and Rosewood Drive.
This work is expected to take one day and will not require the closing of the walkway on the true left bank.
