Regional Forum Public Session: The story of the Mataura Conservation Order
2pm - 3.30pm, Friday 10 May, Heartland Hotel, 100 Waimea Street, Gore
Environment Southland Councillor Maurice Rodway and Alan Leitch will present on the development and impact of the Mataura Conservation Order.
This will be followed by a discussion and afternoon tea, with the opportunity to talk with members of the Regional Forum.

Biography: Maurice Rodway
Maurice was re-elected to Environment Southland's council in 2016 as a representative of the Invercargill-Rakiura constituency. He is now in his fourth term as a regional councillor.
Maurice was a manager of Southland Fish and Game for 31 years, and has a strong affinity with the regions' outdoor landscapes. He enjoys trout fishing across Southland and anything that will take him outdoors.
He spent some of his career as a primary school teacher in Gore for 8 years in the 1970's. At the time he used to travel around the region's rivers frequently to go trout fishing - the Mataura main stem, the Waikaia, and tributaries Otamita, Waimea and Mimihau were frequent destinations.
Maurice has a MSc (Hons) in Zoology and a Certificate in Advanced Sustainable Nutrient Management, both from Massey University, and has been trained as a Hearing Commissioner.
He is also a keen kayaker and enjoys kayak surfing, canoe polo and white water as long as it's not too rough! He enjoys walking in the mountains on warm, sunny days.
Maurice lives in Otatara with his wife Alison (a school teacher at Otatara School) where they have a section surrounded by native forest and attract many native birds in their garden.
