Update from Judge about ouvea pre-mix removal
Minute released by Alternate Environment Judge Newhook
(16 October 2020)
[1] I have today (16 October) conducted a follow-up settlement conference to the one I conducted in Invercargill on 9 September and 2 others electronically on 28 September and 9 October.
[2] Excellent progress continues on planning for removal of the ouvea pre-mix from Mataura to an industrial site, and I have set the next judicial settlement conference for Friday 30 October hopefully to receive a report on finality. The parties remain focused on the urgency of the situation and are acting constructively and with expedition. Their expectation is that the accelerated removal from Mataura will be commencing in the first week of November. It could conceivably be completed by Christmas, but will be weather-dependent.
I have directed a continuation of the tasks I reviewed today.
