New harbourmaster direction issued

Vessels visiting the internal waters of Milford Sound are advised they must now remain a minimum standoff distance of 50m from all waterfalls.
Harbourmaster Lyndon Cleaver has issued a new direction as a result of two recent incidents where a vessel has been struck by debris falling from Sterling Falls in Milford Sound.
“Fortunately on both occasions nobody was hurt but we want to reduce the risk of further incidents.
“We want visitors to enjoy the beauty of the glorious Milford Sound, but most importantly we want to ensure people are safe.”
All visiting vessels are required to abide by the harbourmaster directions which are available on our website.
