Stead Street update
Today (23/8/23) at the Finance and Performance Committee meeting, an update was given on the Stead Street Pump Station climate resilience project (flood protection upgrade) in Invercargill.
There has been an issue discovered with the design and construction of the slab that supports the Archimedes screw pumps – it is 440mm higher than the pump supplier required. Environment Southland and its consultants have been working to identifying the most appropriate remedial solution, which has now been identified. Environment Southland is also seeking advice on the recovery of the cost of the remedial solution from the parties involved and is in discussions with those parties about that.
As the Council is currently in a legal process, we cannot comment any further at this stage.
