Regional Air Plan 2016 Amended

The Southland Regional Council (which trades as Environment Southland) has made amendments to the Regional Air Plan 2016 (the Plan).

The amendments to the Plan are required by the National Policy Statement for Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Industrial Process Heat (NPS) and the National Environmental Standards for Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Industrial Process Heat (NES).

Two new policies have been inserted into the Plan that direct decision-makers to consider the cumulative effects of industrial greenhouse gas emissions and the timing and content of updates to emission plans.

An advice note for reference to the NES has also been inserted into the Plan.

As required by the NPS and the NES, the changes to the Plan have been made without using the process in Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991.

The latest version of the Plan may be inspected on Environment Southland’s website www.es.govt.nz under Regional Plans. Alternatively, hard copies are available at Environment Southland’s office, on the corner of Price Street and North Road, Waikiwi, Invercargill.
