Organisational design programme decisions announced
Decisions around an organisational design programme were released today (3 April) as part of work to ensure Environment Southland is in the best shape to deliver outcomes for the community.
A three-week consultation period on a proposed structure commenced on 13 February. Environment Southland chief executive Wilma Falconer said that staff engagement has been constructive and, as a result of the feedback received, a number of changes have been made in the final structure.
“We embarked on this process to ensure we have the right structure and resources to respond to our communities, and the unique environment we work in,” she said. “The reorganisation would assist in increasing Environment Southland’s ability to deliver collaboratively and in partnership with communities, advance an integrated approach to catchment management, and provide more joined-up services”.
A total of 51 positions will be disestablished and 58 new roles will be established. The appointments process gets underway from early next week and the aim is to implement the new structure on 12 May.
Staff who are affected by the decisions are being offered a range of options and support.
