Rabbit Control - Invercargill

Environment Southland has engaged experienced contractors to undertake night shoots to assess and control numbers of rabbits in Invercargill.

Rabbits are causing damage to the stop bank infrastructure protecting the city, and shooting provides more selective manner of controlling rabbit numbers which is safer for domestic pets.

Shooting will be undertaken from 6.00 pm to 12.00 am on Tuesday, 8 November 2022 and Wednesday, 9 November 2022, in the following areas:

• Otepuni and Waihopai retention dams
• Waihopai, Kingswell and Clifden stop banks.
