Plan Change 5 to the Regional Coastal Plan for Southland
At the Council meeting on 8 November 2023, Environment Southland received and accepted the recommendations of the Hearing Panel on Plan Change 5 to the Regional Coastal Plan.
The Regional Coastal Plan is the statutory framework for the management of the coastal marine area within Southland. Plan Change 5 includes provisions to protect significant environmental values (particularly remoteness and wilderness values) from surface water activities on the internal waters of Fiordland from Yates Point to Puysegur Point (Section 16 of the Regional Coastal Plan for Southland).
This notice is to advise, in accordance with Clause 10(4)(b) of Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991(RMA), that Council has accepted the recommendations of the Hearing Panel appointed under section 34A of the RMA. In accordance with Clause 14 of Schedule 1 of the RMA, a person who made a submission may appeal the decision on Plan Change 5. Any appeals on this decision are to be lodged with the Environment Court within 30 working days of public notice of the decision, in accordance with Clause 11 of Schedule 1 of the RMA. The last day for submissions will be 26 January 2024.
