Road Safety Strategy
The Southland Regional Transport Committee has developed this Regional Road Safety Strategy to provide guidance for a coordinated regional response to the consequences of road crashes in Southland.
The strategy requires the region's Road Controlling Authorities, Police and other road safety partners to work together to reduce the frequency and consequences that arise from road crashes. The release of the Government's Safer Journeys 2020 Strategy in May 2010 provided direction for road safety activities throughout the country and the Southland Regional Road Safety Strategy has been developed to demonstrate the regional response to the Safer Journeys 2020 strategy.
Environment Southland and the Regional Transport Committee will work with our road safety partners to implement and monitor the outcomes from this new strategy.
