Limited notification of resource consent application – AB Lime Limited –10-20 Kings Bend Road, Winton
AB Lime has applied for 7 new consents and to vary an existing consent for its site at Kings Bend, located approximately 5 kilometres east of Winton.
The application was notified to 21 parties within approximately 2km of the site of the application, and to tangata whenua via Te Ao Marama and Hokonui Runanga. Submissions are now closed.
The site of the application includes an established landfill with a history of over 15 years of landfill activity, as well as a well-established limestone quarry.
Under the new consents sought, the landfill footprint, overall capacity, final finished profile and overall physical area of the landfill does not change from those already authorised by existing consents; with key changes sought by the new consents being to remove the upper threshold for annual waste acceptance, and to formalise the ability to receive emergency waste.
Following a formal hearing, an independent resource management commissioner will make a decision on this application, not council staff or councillors. The hearing, which will be held from 17-21 May at the Invercargill Workingmen's Club, will take into account the application, submissions (7 were received), associated evidence and Environment Southland’s report.
An Environment Southland report on the application must be provided to the applicant and submitters at least 15 working days prior to the hearing.
Under the RMA, Environment Southland doesn’t have responsibility for noise matters or roading – these are the responsibility of the Southland District Council.
